I had a dinner there with a friend. The atmosphere and interior are undoubtedly the restaurant's strongest assets. The space feels chic, energetic, and visually compelling, while the open kitchen and chef's table concept create an engaging dining environment. It is particularly well suited for couples seeking a lively date-night setting. Unfortunately, the culinary experience does not live up to the expectation and ambition of the space. The menu and wine list feel relatively generic, offering little that distinguishes the restaurant within its competitive market or justifies its price point. The tuna carpaccio and eggplant tortellini were the highlights of the evening, demonstrating balance, freshness and good execution. In contrast, the shrimp taco lacked refinement and was the weakest dish we sampled. Service was equally inconsistent. The arrival experience and maître d' were warm, welcoming, and attentive. However, the service at the table fell well below expectations. Our waiters had a lot of attitudes, served everything in a hurry, lacked confidence when discussing the menu, and were unable to provide meaningful recommendations. In a restaurant trying to be at higher end level, knowledgeable and polished service should be an integral part of the experience. Overall, this is a venue best suited for atmosphere, design, and social scene. An excellent place to see and be seen, but those seeking a place defined by exceptional cuisine and consistency may find stronger dining experiences elsewhere, even within the same building.

Great Food, Sophisticated Design, and Excellent Service… Slightly Let Down by the Kitchen’s Attitude We recently had dinner at PePe Barra Italiana by Langosteria, the new concept from the Langosteria group. Having previously enjoyed fantastic meals at Langosteria in both Milan and St. Moritz, we were very curious to try this new counter-dining experience. First of all, the design is exactly what you would expect from the Langosteria group: sophisticated, elegant, and contemporary, with a stylish atmosphere that immediately sets the tone for the evening. We started with a Coffee Negroni and a Bicicletta Spritz, followed by some starters to share: Asparagi bianchi e parmigiano, Polpo allo spiedo, and the PePe tacos. Everything was very enjoyable, flavorful, and beautifully presented. For the mains, we ordered the Spaghetti con vongole e bottarga and the Candele con sugo alla PePe. To finish, we shared the Sorbet arancia e Campari, which was fresh, balanced, and a perfect ending to the meal. Service throughout the evening was kind, attentive, and genuinely pleasant. A special mention to the waitress who handled our table with professionalism and grace. The only disappointing moment came when we mentioned that some of the candele pasta pieces were clearly undercooked. There is, after all, a limit to al dente. The waitress politely relayed our feedback directly to the chef in front of us. Unfortunately, the chef did not even bother acknowledging us and reacted in a way that came across as dismissive and unnecessarily arrogant. The waitress could only respond with a nervous smile, which honestly made us feel more uncomfortable for her than for ourselves. What made it even more surprising is that the chef spent 15 years in Tokyo, a city where culinary excellence is often accompanied by humility and respect toward guests. Unfortunately, that spirit did not seem to make it into this interaction. That said, aside from this unfortunate little interlude which mostly revealed more about the chef’s attitude than the restaurant itself, we still had a very enjoyable evening overall. The food, atmosphere, and front-of-house service remain very much worth experiencing.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere here, the low lighting creates a vibing place, making the place feel very intimate. The service was excellent and very attentive, probably because they only have a small number of tables, so the staff really pays attention to each guest. The food quality was also very good, and everything we tried tasted fresh and well prepared.

Love the concept & experience. Our server was the best. And that was the best pesto I ever had.

Sat at the counter and everything felt just right. Impeccable service, a beautifully curated crowd, and that effortless Milanese energy you simply can’t fake. We had both seafood and meat — and honestly, both were outstanding. The crudi were remarkable, incredibly fresh and refined, while the meat was just as impressive. We didn’t hold back (even though it wasn’t a special occasion) — and of course, we had their signature tomato spaghetti. Simple, iconic, perfectly executed. Dessert? Pure indulgence. One of those places where you end up ordering everything you crave — and still want more. Definitely a place to come back to. Tip: book the little corner for two overlooking San Babila. It may not be New York… but it absolutely has its moment
