Great food can make for a memorable evening. Great service can transform it into something truly sublime. We had heard that DeRos was one of Milan’s premier seafood restaurants. What we discovered was a masterclass in hospitality. Rather than ordering individually, my partner and I decided to share our way through the menu. We began with delicately fried sardines, complemented by sweet pickled onions and crisp crackers. Next came ravioli filled with scallops, floating in a luxurious saffron sauce that was both rich and beautifully balanced. For our main course, we shared a magnificent grilled seafood platter featuring fish, tuna, calamari, shrimp and langoustines—each cooked with remarkable restraint, allowing the freshness of the seafood to take centre stage. We finished with a lemon custard crowned with fresh strawberries, served in an impossibly light, crisp pastry bowl that was every bit as elegant as the courses before it. As impressive as the food was, it wasn’t what made this meal unforgettable. Our waiter elevated the entire experience. He guided us without ever overselling, gently steering us toward dishes he genuinely believed represented the kitchen at its best. Every course arrived at precisely the right moment. There was never a sense of being rushed, nor were we left waiting. His quiet confidence and obvious pride in the restaurant reflected a team that truly cares about what they create. The finest restaurants understand that exceptional dining isn’t just about talented chefs. It’s about every person contributing to an experience that lingers long after the last espresso has been enjoyed. DeRos delivers exactly that: an elegant setting, superb seafood, flawless service, and the kind of evening that becomes one of the lasting memories of a trip. Highly recommended.
Beautiful restaurant, amazing waiters, EXCELLENT food!!!!! The only sad thing was that I couldn’t try more dishes due to my small stomach. I had lobster pasta and I really liked the texture of the pasta. Also had to try the tiramisu since everyone was talking about it in the reviews. Absolute five star. Didn’t finish the tiramisu but it wasn’t because I didn’t like it🥲 I was full to my throat even before I had my first bite of the dessert but was just shoving it in because it was just so delicious. Thank you for such a wonderful meal
Ultimate quality of the seafood and fresh ingredients from appetiser to dessert. Super friendly/respectful staff and head chef. Don’t miss out on this amazing experience. I wish I could have enjoyed this more without my recovery ❤️🩹
I found this restaurant on Google Maps, attracted by its high ratings and beautiful photos—and I’m so glad I did. Making a reservation was very easy, even for a Sunday evening, which was a pleasant surprise. The place is a small, cozy family-run restaurant with only about 10 tables, which creates a very warm and intimate atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious—everything tasted fresh and homemade. The pasta is handmade, and you can really feel the quality in every bite. I had a chance to speak with the owner, who shared that they never keep fish or seafood for more than two days—after that, they simply don’t serve it to guests. That level of care really shows in the taste. The shrimp carpaccio was incredibly fresh, and the Italian gelato for dessert was the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, I loved everything about this place. I highly recommend it and hope to come back one day when I’m in Milan again.
The service from the waiters is exceptional, and the place is absolutely beautiful. If you want to eat seafood and you’re in Milan, I definitely recommend coming here. If I had to mention one downside, it would be that the portions are quite small. However, the dishes are outstanding and very innovative—I had never tried anything like them before. For that alone, I’d give it a 10.
