Description

Walk through Milan's historic old town and feel the very fabric of the city reveal its 19th-century secrets: You Are Verdi was created with the aim of transforming a classic urban stroll into a genuine open-air stage. Guided by a cultural historian, participants walk through the city's iconic landmarks and the most hidden corners of the center, starting from the historic Teatro Filodrammatici in Piazza Paolo Ferrari, a stone's throw from La Scala. The route, which lasts about ninety minutes, alternates the actual walk with five evocative technological stops. Wearing state-of-the-art 4K VR headsets and dedicated audio headphones, visitors cross the boundary of time to find themselves immersed in the pivotal moments of Giuseppe Verdi's life and the history of the Risorgimento. The experience is structured like an opera in five acts: you witness the overwhelming triumph of the premiere of Nabucco at La Scala in 1842, you find yourself in the midst of the barricades and patriotic uprisings during the Five Days of Milan in 1848, and you enter the intimate dimension of the salons of the time to discover where the Maestro's inspiration was born. The narrative then continues behind the scenes of the grandiose staging of Aida in 1871, concluding with the moving and choral tribute that the entire city paid to Verdi during his final farewell in 1901.
