Description
This guided tour explores three significant Milan locations linked to Leonardo da Vinci: Santa Maria delle Grazie, Casa degli Atellani, and Sforza Castle. Entry tickets to the Last Supper, Casa degli Atellani, and Sforza Castle are not included.
The tour begins at the Basilica of Santa Maria delle Grazie, near Leonardo's Last Supper, his greatest work in Milan, housed in the refectory of the complex. The basilica itself is a remarkable piece of art and architecture with a complex history, making it a fitting starting point.
Adjacent to the basilica is Casa degli Atellani, an important site connected to Leonardo. In its courtyard, Leonardo spent much time and maintained his personal vineyard after being invited by Ludovico il Moro to work as a “handyman.”
The tour also covers Sforza Castle, where Ludovico il Moro employed renowned artists including Leonardo da Vinci and Donato Bramante to decorate the castle. Walking around the exterior and courtyards reveals the strong connection between Leonardo and this cultural landmark. The castle houses the Sala delle Asse, one of Leonardo’s major unfinished works, currently under restoration.
