From Como, board a Navigazione Laghi ferry to explore the stunning western shore. Your destination is Cernobbio, home to the magnificent Villa Bernasconi. Built in 1906 by architect Alfredo Campanini for the silk entrepreneur Davide Bernasconi, the villa is a masterpiece of Liberty style architecture. This residence was once the heart of a silk citadel, including factories and workers’ housing, reflecting the rich industrial heritage of the region.
Today, Villa Bernasconi is an innovative museum house known as the house that talks. Unlike traditional sites, this house tells its story and that of its former residents in the first person. Important Information
- Take a train from Milan or any station in Lombardy to Como. Reach the pier for a scenic ferry ride to Torno or Cernobbio. Your ticket allows you to visit the characteristic villages along the lake before heading to Villa Bernasconi in Cernobbio. This itinerary is a suggested route without fixed time limits. Wear comfortable shoes. Return to your departure station for a stress-free day trip
- Travel Tip
- For the fastest connection, take the RE80 line from Milano Centrale to Como San Giovanni in only 39 minutes. Alternatively, take the RE7 or R17 line from Milano Cadorna to Como Lago or the S11 line from Milano Porta Garibaldi to Como San Giovanni, both taking approximately 60 minutes. All stations are within a short walk of the lake and boat departures. The last trains back to Milan usually depart between 9:15 PM and 9:35 PM
