This was our first stop for our first time in Milan and we couldn’t have been happier. Rooms are well designed with great amenities - even hair bands in the bathroom kit! Super comfy beds. Food was delicious and the rooftop pool was really special. The gym is well equipped, with lovely views and plenty of fresh air. Huge props to all of the staff but especially Michael who gave us such a warm welcome and great restaurant recommendations. We also really loved this neighbourhood - loads of cool small bars, restaurants, cafes nearby and a very handy boutique supermarket (for Aussies, think small version of Harris Farm) in the same street. We had pre booked a night in Brera at the end of our stay and kept wishing we were back at Hotel Calimala. Would definitely be our first pick again next time.
We had a wonderful stay prior to our motorbike tour. Staff at reception were extremely welcoming and helpful, especially in storing our luggage. Breakfast was plentiful. The only negative was not being able to use the air conditioned restaurant apart from at breakfast as it was so hot sitting in the outdoor restaurant in 37 degree heat 🥵 We had a beautiful balcony room which was quiet and very spacious 🥰
The bathroom was rather small. You don't have much space in the shower and also the toilet is rather uncomfortable, because of a pipe going through. There is very little space. The room is being cleaned multiple times a day, which we really like. Upon arrival, we were offered a small chocolate, which was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the welcome card read "Welcome Mr. Darmak," but I'm not Mr. Darmak. Just a small mistake, but worth mentioning. The breakfast was a little disappointing. The breakfast area is quite small, and when it's busy, it feels very cramped. Every morning, we had to wait for people to pass because the walkway is only about 80 cm wide. Don't expect a wide variety of options either, as the selection is rather limited. There is an outdoor seating area, which is a nice and relaxing place to enjoy breakfast. However, the door leading outside is very heavy and narrow, making it difficult to carry a plate through. Also, there was no cutlery available outside, which was a bit inconvenient. The people at the reception have a nice smile and help you with kindness. The swimming pool is really nice, and you are being offered 1 glass of prosecco per person. If you want an extra glass, offered in a plastic cup, you are being charged €11,00 - i'd say rather pricy. Sunscreen is also provided for free, which is nice. The music outside was a little disturbing. Too loud and each morning the same soft-rock emotional playlist. I was so happy it became a more loungy hotel playlist, always at 12am. Overal - we enjoyed the hotel but I'd not come back too soon, personally. The hotel is really nice designed, with lots of mirrors and clean rooms but personally in little too many ways not 5 * worthy for me. I took some time for this review, and I wrote it from my heart, I don't want to harm anyone.
We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend this hotel. Although it’s about a 20–25 minute walk from the Duomo, the location is fantastic. There are several great restaurants nearby, including excellent sushi- and just two minutes from the hotel you’ll find a tiny, authentic Italian restaurant that was absolutely outstanding. We visited during an extremely hot weekend, so we really appreciated spending the afternoons by the beautiful pool. It was the perfect place to relax. The food at hotel rooftop Restaurant was excellent, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The breakfast was also delicious. The breakfast restaurant is quite small, but the quality and selection of the food were truly excellent. Overall, a fantastic hotel with warm hospitality, great food, and a relaxing atmosphere. We would happily stay here again.
We had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Calimala. The design of the hotel is beautiful, the rooms have everything you could need, and feel special and considered. The rooftop is a great extra, with a pool perfect for a dip, and deck chairs to relax in, in the sunshine. Breakfast was great too, and the service is flawless. The area the hotel is in is also great too, it feels a bit more like a local neighborhood, and the street outside the hotel comes alive on a Friday and Saturday night, with plenty of lively bars to have a drink in. You can basically walk or lime bike to wherever you need to go in the city. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. We'd come back in a heartbeat.
