To mark our first wedding anniversary, we spent an evening at Mandarin Garden that lingers in memory long after the last glass was cleared, an evening that embodied, in every quiet detail, the particular grace one has learned to expect from the Mandarin Oriental name. Irene had already given the evening its shape long before it began. Through weeks in which I alone shifted dates, altered plans, cancelled, and rebooked, she met every complication of my own making with a warmth that never once wavered into strain, and never once made me feel as though I had asked for too much. That kind of patience is not simply a matter of professionalism; it comes from somewhere more generous than that, and we felt it in every exchange we shared with her. That same warmth was waiting for us in person on the evening itself, as she had chosen to be in-house specifically to welcome us herself, guiding us first through the restaurant area before the experience began, taking evident pleasure in sharing it with us. What struck us most was a small, telling detail: she greeted us by name, though we had not offered it, a quiet gesture that spoke of real attentiveness rather than rehearsed courtesy. In the short time we spent with her, Irene made us feel not like guests being processed through an experience, but like two people she was genuinely glad to welcome, and that distinction, subtle as it may sound, made all the difference to how the evening began. Andrea, our host behind the bar, met us with a different kind of warmth, one built on openness, easy humour, and an evident love for his craft. There was nothing performed about him; from the very first exchange, the distance one might expect between guest and host simply dissolved, replaced by something closer to friendship. What lingered with us most, though, was the quiet conviction behind everything he did: the clear sense that this is a man for whom bartending is not a job but a calling, someone who finds as much joy in the architecture of a cocktail as in the quieter, harder art of making two strangers feel entirely at ease in his company. He spoke of his craft with the kind of pride that cannot be taught, only felt, and by the end of the evening, it was impossible not to be moved by how much of himself he had given to it, and to us. As the evening drew toward its close, Kevin took up the bar in Andrea's place, newly arrived that very month, yet already pouring cosmopolitans of real distinction, a quiet promise of what he will become. If an evening can hold the whole character of a house within it, this one did. In Irene and Andrea, we found the warmth, the artistry, and the understated excellence that have always defined Mandarin Oriental for us, and we left carrying it with us still.
An unforgettable dining experience. Every course was beautifully executed, and each dish somehow managed to be even better than the last. The flavors, presentation, and attention to detail were exceptional from start to finish. The standout for me was the strawberry risotto — I genuinely still think about it. It was such a unique and perfectly balanced dish that I find myself craving it long after the meal. Everything was simply amazing, and it’s one of those restaurants that leaves a lasting impression long after you’ve left the table. Mandarin oriental is a wonderful place, full of polite waiters and amazing design. The contemporary art and also the aromas and the parfume diffusers fulfills you once you enter the hotel. I stayed there, at the bar only to drink a coffee and also ate at the same time a Caesar’s salad. The coffee was wonderful, and the salad had fresh ingredients, with perfectly cooked chicken breast and high quality Parmesan cheese. It’s an amazing place to make a quick stop and charge your “batteries” after a long day at the streets on Milan
I went for lunch with my girlfriend. Wanted to try a classic, cotoletta, and a special item from their winter menu. Everything was delicious so tasty and greatly executed. What I’d like to highlight was the service, everybody is so warm and welcoming. Special thanks to Alessandra, Steffano and Guglielmo, they had made an incredible gastronomic experience with their top hospitality and knowledge.
Had New Year’s Eve dinner here with w group of 8 including 2 small children. Food, service, atmosphere, wine and champagne selection were all outstanding. They even had a special 4-course meal for kids. Can wholeheartedly recommend!
