Description
In the morning, your driver and professional guide will pick you up from your hotel and will drive you to Pavia, a city famed for its 100 towers, currently retains the charms of its ancient past thanks to its historic monuments including its University which was founded in 1361. Pavia includes a large number of well-preserved medieval and early Renaissance buildings, churches and ancient squares. You will visit the Ponte Coperto, also known as the Ponte Vecchio. Also make sure to visit the Church of San Michele, the duomo and Castello Visconteo, which includes works dating from medieval times to the 20th century. After the visit, your driver will escort you to Oltrepo Pavese Region for your Wine Tour. This region is known locally as the Tuscany of the north for its beautiful rolling hills and its medieval hamlets. Your tour will include a visit of a winery followed by a Wine Tasting served with Salame di Varzi an authentic regional product made only in this area. Enjoy the countryside in Lombardy, you'll have time for a relaxing stroll and exploration of the traditional food and wine of the area having lunch in a local agriturismo/ trattoria. After lunch, relax and you will continue to Certosa di Pavia, considered one of the most unique buildings in Lombardy. Located 8 kilometers north of Pavia, this historic complex was founded as an ex voto at the end of the 15th century and encompasses a monastery, a sanctuary and beautiful gardens.
