Description
We will start our adventure at the stunning Milan Cathedral (Duomo), with its majestic Gothic façade and the captivating stories behind its spires and statues. Just a few steps from Piazza del Duomo, we’ll visit one of Milan’s most unusual and fascinating churches: the Basilica of San Bernardino alle Ossa. Its unique and mysterious interior will be revealed during the tour — but we won’t spoil the surprise just yet! Did you know that Milan’s first public hospital is now a university? Our guide will explain the story of this transformation — how and why the Ospedale Maggiore was founded, and how it became La Statale University, one of the city’s most important academic institutions. Next, we’ll make a brief stop outside the Basilica of San Nazaro in Brolo, one of the city’s oldest churches, before heading back toward the center. Our next stop is the elegant Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the most iconic landmarks in Milan. Known as the first shopping mall in the world, the Galleria is a masterpiece of 19th-century architecture and a central hub for fashion and luxury. It also connects Piazza Duomo with another legendary site: La Scala Opera House. Here, you’ll hear how upper-class Milanese once experienced a night at the opera — complete with social rules, rituals, and little-known curiosities. Then we’ll dive into Milan’s financial history. Did you know the concept of modern bankruptcy was invented here? We’ll explore Piazza Mercanti, the medieval commercial center of Milan, and then continue to Piazza Affari, home of the Italian Stock Exchange. Outside, we’ll see Maurizio Cattelan’s controversial sculpture 'L.O.V.E.', a bold piece of contemporary art that has sparked international debate. We’ll end our tour in one of the most charming areas of Milan: the Brera District. Famous for its romantic streets, historic buildings, and vibrant creative scene, Brera is the heart of Milan Design Week and home to stylish boutiques, local art galleries, and cozy cafés. It’s the perfect spot to relax after the tour — your guide will share local tips on where to enjoy a delicious Milanese aperitivo or a traditional lunch. We can't wait to welcome you in Milan!Includes
