Description

Head the the Milan Duomo and take in the magnificent facade, adorned with numerous spires, statues, and intricate carvings before skipping the line at this popular attraction. Pass through bronze doors which depict scenes from the Bible and the history of Milan and enter the vast interior of the Duomo. Be greeted with high vaulted ceilings supported by massive pillars. The dim lighting, combined with the colorful light filtering through the stained glass windows, creates a serene and contemplative atmosphere. Explore the central nave and numerous altars and chapels, each dedicated to different saints. See the Statue of Saint Bartholomew where he is depicted holding his own skin, showing the dramatic religious themes of the time. View the high altar which is flanked by large bronze candelabras and intricately carved wooden choir stalls. Adjacent to the cathedral, the Museo del Duomo offers a deeper dive into the history and art of the cathedral where you can see original sculptures, tapestries, and architectural models.
