Description

Milan in the Roman period was a city of great importance. Founded in 222 BC, Milan became a commercial and strategic center for the Roman Empire. During this period, impressive monuments were built such as the Imperial Palace of Maximian and the Roman Forum, which was the center of the city's public life. The Roman theater was instead dedicated to cultural and entertainment activities. Today you can visit the archaeological remains of this historical period, such as the San Lorenzo Complex, the Civic Archaeological Museum and the 'Alda Levi' Antiquarium. The Torre dei Malsani and Largo Carrobbio are instead a tribute to the city's resistance against imperial authority. Visiting these places offers an immersive experience in the ancient history of Milan.
